The Oregon Wave Energy Trust (OWET) said Thursday marine research outfit Advanced Research Corporation will conduct the assessment, to be completed this December.
The assessment “will serve as a guide for developers and providers alike in exploring the viability of Oregon for developing wave energy”, states John Lavrakas, president of the research group.
He tells Recharge relevant coastal infrastructure includes industrial facilities to assemble and launch wave energy devices; ports capable of accommodating vessels that would deploy such devices; manufacturing and assembly services; materials, such as concrete, steel and composites; transportation; skilled workers, including divers, surveyors and welders; and other services, such as excavation, drilling, and operations and maintenance.
