The C$2.6bn ($2.54bn) undertaking is the largest hydroelectric generating construction project in northern Ontario in 40 years. Plans call for expanding the capacity of four existing stations from 486MW to 924MW of dispatchable, peaking power, enough to power between 330,000 and 440,000 homes..
The project has four parts: rebuilding Smoky Falls Generating Station and adding new generating units at Harmon, Kipling, and Little Long stations.
