The study – commissioned by the Canadian province’s own government – makes 27 recommendations covering areas such as planning, economic development, research and regulation.
Dalhousie University oceanographer Bob Fournier, who wrote the report, says while good foundations are in place “what is missing is a comprehensive strategy that consolidates what we know, what we value and what we aspire to in the area of marine renewable energy, into an integrated plan".
