Mini-power plants for waterways unveiled
British Waterways has revealed an agreement to build up to 25 small-scale hydropower plants across its 3,220km network. The deal with the Small Hydro Company Ltd, backed by the Ventus Funds, will involve investing £120m ($167m) of private capital over the next three years to build plants capable of generating 210,000 megawatt hours (MWh) of renewable energy per year.
