The Pike study forecasts “robust” market growth from 760MW this year to 5.5GW in 2017.
It says output will be spurred by growth in the tidal-power industry where deployments should total some 2.4GW, led by top-producing countries South Korea (750MW), the UK (529MW) and Canada (300MW).
India, China and New Zealand are each predicted to add 200MW, and Australia 100MW.
