Consultants Capita Symonds’ £150m ($228.9) Tidal Energy Storage and Release (TESAR) scheme at Llanddulas envisages a test bed facility for turbine designers and manufacturers developing a new generation of ‘low-head’ turbines while also assessing their impact on the environment.

The project, which is expected to take around six years to design and build, would also be designed to harness area tides to generate some 600MWh of renewable electricity each year.
