With the right support mechanisms in place, wave and tidal firms could create 12,500 jobs and add £2.5bn ($4.1bn) to Scotland’s economy by 2020, according to the report, published by Scotland’s Marine Energy Group (MEG).

Since MEG’s last report, issued in 2004, many indigenous Scottish wave and tidal companies have made huge leaps, putting the country in the driver's seat of the emerging global marine-energy industry.
