The ADB loan will help fund the run-of-river Patrind hydropower plant, between the Kunhar and Jhelum rivers near Muzaffarabad, in the north of the country.
The finance will be provided to Star Hydropower, which is jointly owned by Korea Water Resources (K-Water), Daewoo Engineering & Construction, and Sambu.
The project is the first investment in Pakistan’s power sector by a Korean consortium, according to the ADB.
