PLN is currently building eight micro hydro power stations.
The new stations, with a hydro energy potential of 21.67 megawatts (MW), are scheduled to become operational within two years.
West Java currently has five micro hydro power stations giving a modest energy capacity of 1.2MW, according to Agus Yuswanda, spokesman for West Java and Banten PLN distribution office.
“We have also signed ten Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with different private firms to further construct 53 more hydro plants in West Java,” Yuswanda tells Recharge.
