Avista is exploring whether to develop the site directly, or bring in a partner. In either case, tax credits for renewables production and investment have caused the utility to accelerate its plans. In the longer term, it aims to have 150MW of wind by 2019.
Getting up to standard
Spokane: Avista, an investor-owned utility based in Spokane, Washington, is shopping for renewable energy, even though it will not need any new generating resources until 2018, based on its current growth projection. But it needs to meet the state's renewable-portfolio standard (RPS) requirements.
