Hydropower rose by more than 20% to 16.9 terrawatt hours (TWh) and reached record levels, the Finnish Energy Industries group says. The previous record was 15 TWh in 1992.
Wind generation of 0.2 TWh grew by almost 40% from the opening of new power plants.
Hydropower amounted to 19% of electricity consumed in Finland last year compared with 31% for combined heat and power generation (CHP) and nuclear 25%.
