The Carbon Trust grant comes after TEL won an £11m European funding package for the manufacture and installation of its 1.2MW DeltaStream device off the Pembrokeshire coast next year.
“We must understand more about how devices interact with the marine environment,” says TEL development director Chris Williams.
DeltaStream is a three-headed horizontal axis turbine that is designed to operate on the seabed without an anchoring system.
