Under the £7m deal, Darlington-based CTC Marine will handle load-out and installation of the offshore development’s 25 kilometre, 1,300 tonne armoured subsea cable, as well as deployment of the 12 tonne hub itself.
Situated in 50 metres of water 16 kilometres off the west coast of the UK, Wave Hub will work as a giant electrical ‘socket’ in the sea, to which up to four wave energy conversion machines can be connected for long-term trials.
