The project, which was financed to the tune of $200m by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and built by Empresas Públicas de Medellín (EPM), increases the country’s installed capacity by 5%.
Porce 3, which is EPM’s largest power-generation plant, is located 147km northeast of the city of Medellín, in the department of Antioquia.
The Porce River is a tributary of the Nechí River, which in turn flows into the Cauca River.
