The Australian company’s subsidiary Pacific Coastal Wave Energy (PCWE) has been developing the Ucluelet project for more than two years, supported by a C$2m ($2m) British Columbian grant.
Now PCWE has applied for additional project funding under the Canadian government’s ecoENERGY Innovation Initiative. A decision is expected in the first quarter of 2012.
If it proceeds, Ucluelet would be Canada’s first commercial-scale wave-power demonstration project, according to Carnegie.
