FTI has also finalised a tie-up with the US’s Ocean Renewable Power Company to install its TidGen turbine system in the province’s Petit Passage waterway.
Both projects will be developed starting with installation of a single unit in 2012 before progressing to an array of devices.
A decision on final site locations will be made this year with input from community stakeholders, regulators and First Nations representatives, with the goal of operating 2-5MW developments over time.
