The list of measures to get tidal-power projects off the drawing board and into Scottish waters continues to grow. Last year, Scotland put forward the £10m ($14.6m) Saltire Prize, to be awarded to the first team to deploy a marine-energy device that achieves an output of at least 100 gigawatt hoursover a two-year period in Scottish waters.
Boost for push to develop 'the Saudi Arabia of tidal power'
The push to develop Scotland's marine energy industry has been boosted by the UK Crown Estate saying it will match the option fee paid by companies looking to exploit the Pentland Firth's tidal streams.
