The blades supplier, Singapore’s Tempco Manufacturing, has assumed responsibility for the defect, with Atlantis now looking to replace the bespoke hybrid test blades with standard carbon fibre ones.
“The problem with the blades supplied to Atlantis as part of the AK1000 testing programme is regrettable and we acknowledge that it was an unexpected manufacturing fault that we believe relates to the composition of the composite material used during the fabrication process,” says a spokesperson for Tempco.
