The BiFab order is for the manafacture of the HS1000 turbine’s giant substructure, and is the single largest contract in a series of deliveries worth a total of £4m.
Orders for the other components of the turbine, being deployed at the European Marine Energy Centre off Scotland’s Orkney islands next year, have yet to be announced.
