Bristol: The agreement with the university's Wave Power Research Group is seen as a 'key step' for the Edinburgh-based tidal-power technology company to move the Oyster concept towards commercial reality based on "the most rigorous research and testing programmes possible". The university has previously worked with Aquamarine, deliv-ering feasibility studies, tank testing and numerical modelling for the Oyster prototype, due to be launched at sea for the first time this summer at the European Marine Energy Centre on the Scottish island of Orkney.

Aquamarine Power has sealed a five-year research partnership with Queen's University, Belfast, to develop its next-generation Oyster wave device.
