The snake-like Anaconda, made from fabric and natural rubber, uses incoming waves to drive a turbine in its tail.
Full-scale devices are expected to be up to 200 metres in length and capable of generating one megawatt (MW) of power each. They will be clustered in farms of up to 50 units, a few miles from the coast.
Anaconda works on a completely different principle to most wave technologies.
