A €9.1bn ($10.2bn) bid by China Three Gorges for control of EDP – parent of renewables giant EDPR – will drag into 2019 because of the complexity of the deal, said the Portuguese utility’s CEO.

“It’s an inevitably long process because there are many countries, many authorisations involved, especially in the United States and Europe. So it will be some time in 2019, certainly,” said Antonio Mexia, quoted by Reuters.
