Argentina this week published the draft contract and tender rules for the construction of the 489km, 500kV Diamante-Charlone transmission line via a public private partnership (PPP), kick-starting the long-awaited expansion of the country’s network to keep pace with expanding renewable generation.

It marks the first time that Argentina will contract private companies to extend its 45,000km transmission grid. The last significant expansions were carried out by state power groups about 10 years ago.
