Swedish utility Vattenfall said its largest battery installation to date offers a glimpse of the future for renewables deployments.

The 22MW lithium-ion system – which is also the UK’s largest co-located battery – shares electrical infrastructure with Vattenfall’s 228MW Pen y Cymoedd wind farm in Wales.

Dubbed battery@pyc, the facility will provide Enhanced Frequency Response (EFR) services to the UK National Grid.
