Swiss industrial group ABB has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Swedish start-up Northvolt for a supply and technology partnership including products and services for what the companies claim will be Europe’s largest battery factory.
The lithium-ion plant in Sweden is slated to have a demonstration-line ready by 2019, and start production in 2020 to supply European customers in the automotive and other industries in need of batteries.
