In the small farming hamlet of Bickleton, Washington, which has a population of just 90, cash is blowing in on the wind.

“For the first time in probably some 40 years, we’re going to build a new school — and that is directly attributable to the tax revenue from the wind industry,” says Judy Naught, business manager of the Bickleton School District, which serves a 1,300sq km area where there are more wind turbines than students.
