Three of the projects are focussed on designing new offshore wind turbine technology, and the fourth is a project to demonstrate a commercial scale tidal turbine.

Project Helm Wind is a UK based consortium made up of E.ON, Rolls-Royce, BP Alternative Energy and the University of Strathclyde. The project aims to deliver a design and feasibility study for offshore wind farm technology that addresses the problems facing today’s systems, including turbine reliability and accessing for maintenance.
