The new agreement with the Wave Power Research Group at the university is seen as a “key step” for Edinburgh-based Aquamarine to move the Oyster concept toward commercial reality based on “the most rigorous research and testing programmes possible”.
Aquamarine and Queen’s previous work together has already delivered feasibility studies, tank testing and numerical modelling for the first Oyster prototype, due to be launched at sea for the first time this summer at the European Marine Energy Centre on the Scottish island of Orkney.
