The Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (Orec) aims to bridge the divide between university research and commercialisation of innovative technologies.
It will be set up by government-industry body the Carbon Trust, the National Renewable Energy Centre (Narec) and Ocean Energy Innovation – a group that includes SSE, Scottish Power Renewables and the European Marine Energy Centre.
Orec will have its headquarters at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow with its operational base at Narec.
