The four acoustic Doppler current profilers (ADCP) moorings in the Atlantic Ocean will gather baseline information on the spatial and temporal variability of the Gulf Stream for its potential use as a renewable energy source.
Ranging from 7.8km (4.9 miles) to 35.9km (22.3 miles) from Dania Beach in eastern Florida, the ADCPs were deployed at depth of 221 meters (725 feet) to 645 meters (2,116 feet).
