Germany’s E.ON signed the agreement with Rotterdam Climate Initiative (RCI), a group of local parties, in front of Dutch economics minister Maria Van der Hoeven on Wednesday.
After a feasibility study, they intend to fit the CCS technology to E.ON’s €1.2bn coal plant expansion at its Maasvlakte site in Rotterdam, Netherlands. E.ON has operated a small CCS pilot plant at Maasvlakte since last year.
