The structure is going to get a first outing as part of the company’s “redeployable” FlexMetMast (FMM) offshore meteorological-mast concept, while being incubated for possible use as an innovative substructure for offshore wind farms.
Recent tank trials of a “floating to fixed” (F2F) unit, fitted with the Rotterdam-based developer’s FMM prototype at hydraulic-test institute Deltares, in Delft, have shown that the foundation and met mast combination is fit for the “extreme, demanding conditions” of deployment in the North Sea and southern Atlantic, according to BMO.
