BioPower expects to begin work on the development later this year with the deployment of a 250-kilowatt bioWave device. Installation of an array of 1-megawatt (MW) machines at the site, which could accommodate up to 100MW of installed capacity, would follow
Pre-development work at the site has been carried out by compatriot renewable energy project developer Diamond Energy.
“This stretch of coastline is well known around the world as a premiere location for wave-energy development,” says BioPower Systems chief executive Timothy Finnigan.
