The development, to be built off India in the Gulf of Kutch using turbines supplied by UK-headquartered marine energy developer Atlantis Resources, follows approval of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) by Gujarat’s chief minister of the state, Narendra Modi. Construction could begin as early as this year.

A total of 250MW of future tidal power capacity was agreed under the terms of the MoU between Atlantis and partner Gujarat Power.
