Swiss-headquartered marine contractor Allseas has acquired Bluerise, a Dutch specialist in ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) technology.
Allseas, which works chiefly in pipelay, heavy-lift and subsea construction for the oil & gas industry, aims to use its offshore expertise to advance Bluerise concepts and “to accelerate the implementation of OTEC technology for renewable energy projects worldwide”.
Bluerise, based in Delft, has been researching and developing OTEC technology for almost a decade, engineering systems that use the natural temperature difference between the ocean depths and surface water to generate electricity.
