Officials and offshore sector representatives are in talks over the details of a new support system that could see tenders be staged late next year for offshore projects commissioned from 2021 onwards.
The new system – over which no final decision has yet been made – would replace the current support regime under Germany’s renewable energy law (EEG).
“The aim of a tendering system will be to generate a fair and transparent competition in order to ultimately achieve the lowest possible power price for consumers," an energy ministry official told Recharge.
