The massive order will see Baoding-based Yingli – the world’s largest PV module supplier last year – deliver more than 325,000 of its multi-crystalline panels to the Jasper array in South Africa’s Northern Cape.
Jasper, a second-round project, is being built for its developers by a consortium led by Iberdrola, with construction due to start later this year.
Yingli suggested that its agreement late last year with German reinsurance giant Munich Re played a role in securing the deal.
