'We're bullish on Texas. It's a market where we want to be a big player'

First Solar is bullish on Texas for utility-scale solar. It likes the market fundamentals in a state where wind has been king of renewable energy for the last 15 years. That is changing amid a rapid decline in the price of solar, which is now competitive with fossil fuels in some cases as a power source.

The largest US developer is scouting commercial opportunities in the vast Trans-Pecos region of the Chihuahuan Desert in West Texas, which has the country’s best solar resource. 

Based
