Vivint Solar Q1 installations surge 131%

Vivint Solar, the second largest player in the booming US residential solar market, had a good start to 2015, with installations rising 131% year on year and revenues up 172%.

Utah-based Vivint installed 46MW in the first quarter, compared to 20MW in the year-ago period. Quarterly bookings rose 90% to 50MW.

Revenues – which come primarily in the form of solar lease payments from homeowner customers – rose 172% to $9.5m.

For comparison, SolarCity installed 153MW in the first quarter of 2015, up 87% year on year, while bookings rose 74% to 237MW.
