Vivint Solar informed investors and media late on Tuesday that it had settled on a $16 price for the shares, having earlier this month said they would sell for $16-$18.
By mid-day, the shares had risen nearly 8% to $17.25.
By comparison, shares in rival SolarCity were down more than 4% by the same point on Wednesday.
At $17.25 per share, Vivint Solar has a market capitalisation of $1.82bn,
