China remains the dominant workshop for the global PV manufacturing industry, home to four of the five largest module suppliers in 2014 – Trina, Yingli, Jinko and JA Solar. Canadian Solar, the other company in last year’s top five, is based in Ontario but does the bulk of its manufacturing in China.

But with a raft of anti-dumping measures in place around the world targeted primarily at Chinese producers, and with the global market for PV modules quickly diversifying into new countries and regions, solar manufacturing is increasingly taking place outside of China.
