Opera was formed and listed in London this April with the intention of acquiring a “company, business, project or asset in the natural resources sector”, and has settled on SoloPower, which needs capital to scale up manufacturing in the US state of Oregon.

SoloPower makes PV cells and flexible modules based on copper, indium, gallium and selenide (CIGS), a technology seen as having big potential, but which has struggled in the face of the flood of competing crystalline-silicon modules available on the market, most of them made in China.

Portland-based
