SMA’s share of the global market for PV inverters, in revenue terms, fell 6% during the first three quarters of 2014, according to new figures from IHS.
Last week SMA of Germany, long the world’s leading supplier of solar inverters, lowered its sales and earnings forecast for 2014, due to its exposure to the shrinking European PV market.
SMA expects to lose €115m ($143m) in 2014, and that does not include additional expenses that it will incur as it cuts its headcount.
