The project is being developed in partnership with Amber Infrastructure, which will equip the plant, with M&S acquiring all the power generated by the PV system under a 20-year PPA.
The plant is expected to be completed in early 2015 and will make the fully-automated distribution centre almost self-sufficient during daylight hours, said M&S.
M&S wants 50% of the electricity used in its buildings to come from renewable sources by 2020.
