The 10MW Soroti development, located 300km northeast of the Ugandan capital Kampala, is expected to be flowing PV-generated electricity on to the national grid by June 2016, supplying 40,000 area homes.
"The Soroti solar project has real and practical significance for the future of renewable energy development in Africa," Access head of business development, Nasir Aku, tells Recharge.
"The project reached financial close in record time and provides a successful and easily replicable case study of how to fast-track implementation of a renewable energy generation project in Africa by private developers."
