On Wednesday, the Arizona Corporation Commission, which regulates the electric power industry, approved the projects. They include:
- A 10MW lithium nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) facility at a TEP substation. The system will be built by NextEra Energy Resources and is expected to be in operation late this year.
- A 10MW lithium titanate oxide (LTO) storage facility and accompanying 2MW solar array will be located at the University of Arizona Science and Technology Park southeast of Tucson.
