The Tokyo-based company and the Kawasaki municipal authorities will test the independent energy supply system — which will pair a 25kW solar array and hydrogen fuel cells with a lithium-ion Super Charge Ion Battery (SCiB) for storage purposes — from April 2015 to the end of fiscal 2020.
The demonstration project, which will be built at a designated emergency evacuation area near the Kawasaki port, will be able to supply electricity and hot water to roughly 300 people for a period of about a week.
