To get there, the technology giant set an interim 40% target by 2020, a move the company says reinforces its “dedication to integrating sustainability into its core business strategy.”
To attain both goals, HP is applying a three-phase strategy:
- Aggressively reduce energy consumption by optimizing operations/building efficiency and implementing new efficiency projects.
- Increase the use of on-site renewable power.
- Acquire or generate off-site renewable power to offset brown electricity, including the use of renewable energy credits and off-take agreements.
