California-based SunPower is majority owned by French energy giant Total.
Europe was unquestionably SunPower’s weak spot in the third quarter, with its revenues in the EMEA region falling by 63% and its gross margin collapsing by 20%, leaving it SunPower’s only geographic segment to report a negative gross margin.
As a result, SunPower has initiated a new reorganisation plan that will see 85-115 workers let go – equivalent to 1-2% of its global workforce – between now and the end of 2015.
