Suniva Inc., the Shunfeng-owned PV manufacturer based near Atlanta, Georgia, has completed a major factory expansion, cementing its position as the largest PV cell maker in the US and among the largest outside Asia.
China’s Shunfeng acquired a majority stake in Suniva in 2015, representing the most important investment by a Chinese solar company in US manufacturing to date. Shunfeng – which also owns Suntech – has helped bankroll Suniva’s $100m US expansion, allowing it to more than triple its cell capacity in Atlanta, to 450MW.
